Why is the Recording application not able to find my game?

If you areyou're trying to start a new Sessionsession withinin the TopMod QA Recording application and are encounteringsee a warning (seestating below) that the "Application was not found", TopModit QAmeans the application cannot detect or connect to the game youyou're testing. Below are testing. This article provides our recommendationsrecommended fortroubleshooting how to fix this.steps:

1) Ensure target game is running

CheckVerify that the game you areyou're trying to record is stillcurrently runningactive and hasn'hasn’t encounteredcrashed anyor issuesclosed that may lead to the game being closed.

2) Check selected game is correct

As TopMod QA connects toidentifies the target game using it'sits window name,title. pleasePlease ensuremake sure you’ve selected the correct game youfrom have selected in yourthe dropdown menu is correct. Please note - ifin the Recording application.

Note: If your game useslaunches via a launcher window, please wait to start the Session until the full game window has loaded.loaded before starting a new session.

3) Restart TopMod QA

If you are still encountering the issue,issue pleasepersists, restart the TopMod QA recordingRecording application to ensure theyour user configuration file has been setup.initialized correctly.

4) Delete TopMod QA Configuration file

If afterrestarting restartingdoesn’t resolve the application,issue, you are still seeing this error, you willmay need to manually delete the TopMod QA configuration filefile. byFollow goingthese tosteps:

  1. Open the Start menu and launch the Run dialog (Windows + R).

  2. Type %appdata% and click OK. This will open the Roaming AppData folder (stepsin below)File andExplorer.

  3. Navigate to the configurationroot file.AppData Tofolder findby &clicking deleteon your configuration file, please complete the following steps:

    • Open your start menu and open the "Run" application
    • Enter "%appdata%" into the input box and click OK, a Windows Explorer window should open.
    • Check that you areAppData in the rootaddress of the AppData folder.bar. The filefull path in the Explorer window should look similar to this: "like:
      C:\Users\[Your Username Here]YourUsername]\AppData"AppDat
    • Open the "Local"Local folder

    • folder,
    • Openthen the "topmod"topmod folderfolder.

    • Delete the "config.pb" file andnamed thenconfig.pb.

    • Restart the TopMod QA recordingRecording application.

5) Reinstall recording application & restart host PC

If younone continueof tothe encounterabove issues,steps pleasework, reinstall TopModthe QA's recordingRecording application and restart your PC.computer.
